Friday night was one spent at home. We had gone to a basketball game the night before and so we decided since our weekend was going to be busy we would stay in for the night. It was a hard night once again for Jaycee because she didn't want to eat. She is one stubborn and determined little girl. So she sat at the dinner table for over an hour. The last thirty minutes of it she spent crying and saying I want Mommy! I was so thankful when Byron took her to her room and put her to bed. This mommy couldn't handle her calling my name like that. I am guessing this week we will probably go through some more not eating days. We allowed her to eat Saturday morning because she was staying with my mom that day. Its not fair or fun for a grandma to enforce rules. Jaycee and Jackson spent Saturday and Sunday with my parents. So our joke was that Jaycee would eat all she needs and wants there, and then it would last her all week!!!
Saturday, Byron and I went up to Norman to do more shopping. Our plans were for the kids to go, but when Byron stopped by my parents after work on Friday to borrow my mom's stroller she said that she wanted them. She said, Byron and I would have more fun and get more done without them. Also, she felt that since Byron had them the weekend before she needed to return the favor!!! What a sweet mommy!!! Byron and I are now done with our Christmas shopping! YAY! I do need to get a few little things for the kids' stockings, but that is a "quick" trip into Wal-Mart. We did have a tremendous time being together. We were so blessed to have a day to ourselves.
Yesterday, Jackson and I went to church. Jaycee's nose is stopped up and so we thought it might not be the best for her to spread her germs to all of her friends in class. She feels fine, its just when she sneezes snot goes everywhere. Of course, she totally freaks out and hates that. So it would have been quite the distraction in class. After church, Jackson and I had lunch with my parents. Oh my, Jackson ate a lot. We had Mexican food. Mom introduced Jackson to cheese dip! This is now his new favorite. He ate 2 cup fulls of it and we had 3 bowls of chips before he finished. He did quite well for the fact that he got to dip his own chips in his own cup of cheese dip. He was so cute. Then, after his cup had nothing left he picked up the pepper and ate it! WOW! I am so thankful we don't have a food issue with him! I don't know if I could handle 2 children being so darn picky!!! After lunch, Mom dropped me off at Pastor Jerry and Deania's house. We were giving a good friend of ours a baby shower. She is due January 10th with her 3rd little girl!
Mom drove our car back to our house. Dad and Jackson picked Mom and Jaycee up and headed to my parents' house. Byron drove over to Sulphur because last night we had our Small Group Christmas party. We had a blast. We had 37 people there. I know you are saying that isn't really a typical Small Group size. No its not. I think we are about to divide it. Our church isn't a big church so our Small Groups are made up of age groups. Our group rages from 20-30s. We have recently had a lot of early 20s enter the group making it quite large which is totally awesome. Anyways, we played Dirty Santa. Can you imagine?! It was a lot of fun and a lot of laughter! Byron and I made out with probably some of the best gifts there. The limit was $10. Some found the best gifts for $10 and others well basically gave anything they could find. One guy ended up with a 1980s worship cassette tape! WHAT?! Who even has a tape player anymore? Byron ended up with a box of 12 different flavors of coffee packages! WOOHOO!!! I got a beautiful new billfold!!! We also had a large game of Catch Phrase. Unfortunately, the girls lost both games of that! Only due to the fact the guys cheated!!! All in all it was a great and fun night!
This week is going to busy! Tonight we are taking the kids into Duncan to drive through the neighborhoods to see Christmas Lights. I can't wait! It will be so much fun as long as the kids stay awake. Tomorrow night, we are going to watch my old high school coach's team play basketball. After his game, his son Case, is the starting point guard for the boys' team. Which I can't even believe Case is a Senior. When they came to Velma, Case was a first grader. Case is one awesome kid and I am so excited to go watch him play!!! Wednesday night is church. Thursday night we are going to another basketball game. We are going to watch Roff play Red Oak. It is one of the biggest games of the year for Roff. Both teams are ranked high in class B and they could face each other in March in the State Tournament. Our associate pastor's son plays for Roff. So it should be a great game. Come this weekend we will be ready to relax!
Since the weather in Washington has been so cold I thought I would share our weather. Yesterday, was a true testament to the weather style of Oklahoma! Yesterday, our high got to 80! This isn't normal by any chance to have that high of temperature in December. We hung out at Trey and Serah's house before the Christmas Party. When we left their house it was still in the 70s. Ten minutes later arriving at the Christmas Party, the wind had changed and the temperature dropped to the 50s. By the time the party ended it was into the 30s. This morning it was 19!!! That is Oklahoma weather at its finest!!!
There you have it, another update of what is happening in Oklahoma! Have a very blessed week!
